I'm Stephen — Former Local Authority Cleaning Inspector

Before starting Stardust Cleaning in 2000, I spent years inspecting cleaning contracts for local councils. I know exactly what "properly clean" looks like — because I used to fail contractors who didn't meet the standard.

That background means I hold every job to professional inspection standards. If it wouldn't pass my old checklist, we're not done.

I personally quote every Mapperley job and oversee quality. When you call, you speak to me — not a call centre.

We Know Mapperley — and Why Driveways Here Need Expert Care

Mapperley sits at Nottingham's highest point — over 400 feet above sea level. This exposed hilltop position, combined with the mature trees lining Mapperley Park's avenues, creates conditions where moss and algae thrive. The Keuper Marl clay beneath the surface retains moisture, accelerating the greening of driveways and patios.

We've been cleaning properties across Mapperley since 2000 — from Victorian villas on Lucknow Drive to modern homes along Woodborough Road.

Whether you're in the Mapperley Park conservation area, near Mapperley Top shops, or along the Plains, we're just 10-15 minutes away from New Basford via Mansfield Road or Wells Road.

Areas we cover in Mapperley:

We head north via Mansfield Road through Carrington, or east along Wells Road. Mapperley's elevated position makes it one of the closest suburbs to our base — whether you're near St Jude's Church, in the conservation area, or up on the Plains.

"Wow what a difference..... Steve did a fantastic job cleaning and re-sanding our block paving drive and patio. And giving us advice on what to use to control the weeds. My next door neighbours were so impressed they asked him to clean theirs too. I really couldn't be happier with the results. The pictures speak for themselves."

Mapperley Pressure Washing Questions

Got questions? Here are the things customers ask most often.

Can't find your answer?

Call or message us — we respond within 2 hours.

Driveway cleaning starts from £4 per square metre. A typical 40m² block paving driveway costs £160-£200, including kiln-dried sand re-application. We provide free, fixed-price quotes — no hidden fees.

Light rain doesn't affect pressure washing — we're using water anyway! For heavy rain, we'll contact you to reschedule at no charge. We monitor forecasts and communicate proactively.

Not necessarily. As long as we have access to the area and an outside tap, you don't need to be present. We'll send before and after photos so you can see the transformation.

You can walk on it immediately. For block paving that's been re-sanded, we recommend waiting 24 hours before driving on it to let the sand settle into the joints.

Yes — Mapperley Park, Mapperley Top, Mapperley Plains, Alexandra Park, Woodborough Road, Porchester Road, and surrounding areas including Sherwood and Carrington. We're based in New Basford, just 10-15 minutes away.

Yes. If you're not completely satisfied, we'll return and re-clean at no extra cost. We're also fully insured with £5 million public liability cover for complete peace of mind.

Absolutely. Mapperley Park's conservation area has many distinguished Victorian and Edwardian villas with original surfaces. We're experienced with York stone, flagstones, heritage brick, and period pointing. We use appropriate pressure settings and take care with historic materials.

Mapperley sits at Nottingham's highest point (400ft), which sounds counter-intuitive, but the mature trees along the conservation area's avenues create shaded, damp conditions. Combined with Keuper Marl clay soil that retains moisture, it's perfect for moss and algae. Regular cleaning every 2-3 years keeps on top of it.

About Mapperley

Mapperley is a residential and commercial suburb in north-eastern Nottingham, sitting at the city's highest point at over 400 feet above sea level. The area takes its name from Thomas Mapurley, a notable Nottingham figure who was under-sheriff in the 1380s, MP, and later Mayor in 1402-3. "Mapurley Barns" were first recorded in 1496. The area was historically important for brickmaking — the Keuper Marl clay supplied bricks for much of Victorian Nottingham, giving rise to the saying that "Nottingham once stood on Mapperley Plains." The suburb became residential after the 1903 Wright estate auction, when 130 acres were sold for development.
