Professional Equipment, Superior Results
We use commercial-grade rotary surface cleaners — not standard pressure washer lances. This gives even, streak-free results and is gentler on your surfaces while being far more effective at removing ingrained dirt, moss and algae.
- Rotary surface cleaners for driveways & patios
- Adjustable pressure for delicate surfaces
- Hot water option for oil & grease removal
I'm Stephen — Former Local Authority Cleaning Inspector
Before starting Stardust Cleaning in 2000, I spent years inspecting cleaning contracts for local councils. I know exactly what "properly clean" looks like — because I used to fail contractors who didn't meet the standard.
That background means I hold every job to professional inspection standards. If it wouldn't pass my old checklist, we're not done.
I personally quote every Lowdham job and oversee quality. When you call, you speak to me — not a call centre.
We Know Lowdham — and Why Driveways Here Go Green
Lowdham sits in the Dover Beck valley, where the stream creates a humid microclimate that's perfect for moss and algae. The village's sheltered position between the A6097 and A612 corridors, combined with mature trees and hedgerows, means surfaces here turn green faster than on higher, more exposed ground.
We've been cleaning properties across Newark and Sherwood since 2000 — from historic cottages near St Mary's Church to modern homes on the village outskirts.
Whether you're near the village centre, along Southwell Road, or in the Gunthorpe direction, we're around 25 minutes away via the A612 from New Basford.
Areas we cover in Lowdham:
Our Base: New Basford
Chelsea House, Chelsea Street, NG7 7HP
We head east through Carlton and Burton Joyce, then continue along the A612 Southwell Road. Lowdham's position at the crossroads of the A612 and A6097 makes it a straightforward route — whether you're near the village centre, Station Road, or out towards Gunthorpe.
Key roads we cover:
We've Cleaned Every Era of Lowdham Home
From historic framework knitters' cottages to modern family homes — we know which surfaces need which approach.
Historic Cottages
Original framework knitters' cottages and farm buildings near St Mary's Church. Traditional flagstones, aged brick — needs careful, lower pressure.
Post-Railway Houses
Larger homes built after the 1846 railway arrival. Period pointing, York stone paths, mature gardens with established moss growth.
Inter-War & Post-War
Semi-detached homes with concrete drives or converted front gardens with block paving.
Modern Developments
1970s expansion and newer builds. Resin-bound drives, Indian sandstone, porcelain patios — specialist care needed.

About Lowdham
Lowdham is a historic village in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire, situated between Nottingham and Southwell. Home to approximately 3,247 residents (2021 census), it sits at the crossroads of the A6097 and A612. The name derives from the Old English "Hludan hām" meaning "Hluda's homestead," though earlier Danish forms like "Ludham" suggest possible Viking influence. The village appears in the Domesday Book of 1086. Historically, Lowdham was a significant framework knitting centre — by 1844, there were 94 stocking frames operating in the village. The railway arrived in 1846, connecting Lowdham to Nottingham and Lincoln and transforming it into a commuter village.
St Mary's Church
Grade I listed parish church with 13th century origins, restored by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1860. Features a medieval alabaster slab and the effigy of Sir John de Loudham (died 1318), a knight whose dog at his feet marks him as a warrior.

newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk →Notable residents include Harold Cottam (Titanic rescue hero), Richard Whitehead MBE (Paralympic champion), and Cornelius Brown (1852-1907, local historian). The village retains its community character with four traditional pubs — The Old Ship, The Magna Charta, The Railway, and The World's End (formerly The Plough). Lowdham has a primary school, active community groups, and is well-connected via rail and road to Nottingham. The Lowdham Mill northeast of the bypass and the castle mound to the west preserve links to the village's agricultural and medieval past.
