About Keyworth
Keyworth is a large village on the South Nottinghamshire Wolds, 6 miles southeast of Nottingham. Home to approximately 7,400 residents, it sits on a hilltop 200 feet above sea level overlooking the surrounding countryside. First recorded as "Caworde" in the Domesday Book of 1086 (population then around 82), the village developed as an agricultural community before framework knitting brought industrial growth in the 19th century. Major expansion came in the 1950s-70s when Keyworth transformed into a commuter village for Nottingham. A 1984 boundary extension incorporated part of Normanton, adding 2,000 residents overnight. The village is twinned with Feignies, France, and its historic logo features a windmill that stood on Selby Lane until the 1950s.
St Mary Magdalene Church
Grade I listed 14th-century parish church with a unique tower described by Pevsner as unmatched in the county. Features an octagonal semi-lantern and dwarf spire with blind tracery decoration. Located at the heart of the village overlooking The Square.
