I'm Stephen — Former Local Authority Cleaning Inspector

Before starting Stardust Cleaning in 2000, I spent years inspecting cleaning contracts for local councils. I know exactly what "properly clean" looks like — because I used to fail contractors who didn't meet the standard.

That background means I hold every driveway clean to professional inspection standards. If it wouldn't pass my old checklist, we're not done.

I personally quote every Keyworth job and oversee quality. When you call, you speak to me — not a call centre.

Why Keyworth Driveways Get So Dirty

Keyworth sits on a hilltop on the South Nottinghamshire Wolds — a position chosen historically for its drainage and water supply, but one that exposes properties to weather from every direction. Wind, rain and damp create ideal conditions for moss and algae to colonise paving year-round.

Keyworth's biggest expansion came during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s — driven first by commuter pressure from Nottingham, then by the opening of Cotgrave Colliery in 1962. Many Wolds Drive, Manor Road and Selby Lane drives are now 50+ years old with substantial joint sand loss and decades of moss buildup.

The 1984 Normanton boundary extension brought another 2,000 residents into Keyworth overnight, with their housing now also reaching maintenance age. Period properties around the Main Street conservation area need a careful approach to protect original flagstones, soft mortar joints and stone setts.

Areas we cover around Keyworth:

Our Base: New Basford

From New Basford we head south through the city, over Trent Bridge, and down the A606 Melton Road through West Bridgford and Plumtree before climbing into Keyworth. Whether you're on Main Street, Wolds Drive, Manor Road, or near the Plough Inn on Selby Lane, we know the village well.

Can't find your answer?

Call or message us — we respond within 2 hours.

Driveway cleaning in Keyworth is £4 per square metre with a £100 minimum charge that covers setup and travel. A typical 50m² driveway costs £200. Re-sanding for block paving is available as an optional extra. We provide fixed-price quotes with no hidden fees.

Yes, re-sanding is available as an optional extra for block paving driveways. We use kiln-dried sand which helps stabilise the blocks and reduce weed growth. We recommend waiting 24 hours before driving on freshly re-sanded driveways.

Keyworth's hilltop position on the South Nottinghamshire Wolds means properties are exposed to weather from every direction — wind, rain and damp moss-friendly conditions. Mature tree cover throughout the village adds organic debris. Many Wolds Drive, Manor Road and Selby Lane drives are now 50+ years old with significant joint sand loss and moss colonisation.

Not necessarily. As long as we have access to your driveway and an outside tap, you don't need to be present. We'll send before and after photos so you can see the transformation.

A typical Keyworth driveway (30-60m²) takes 2-4 hours depending on the level of soiling and surface type. Older 1950s-70s drives across Wolds Drive and Manor Road often have decades of moss buildup and take longer than newer cleaner block paving.

Yes. We're experienced with Keyworth's older properties around the Main Street conservation area. Many have original flagstones, period block paving or stone setts that need a careful, lower-pressure approach to avoid damaging soft mortar joints or pointing on Grade II listed cottages.

We clean every driveway surface found across Keyworth: block paving (very common across Wolds Drive and Manor Road estates), concrete, tarmac, resin-bound, imprinted concrete, and natural stone or original flagstones around the Main Street conservation area.

Yes. If you're not completely satisfied with any aspect of our driveway cleaning, we'll return and re-clean at no extra cost. We're also fully insured with £5 million public liability cover.

About Keyworth

Keyworth is a large village located 6-7 miles south-east of Nottingham in the Borough of Rushcliffe, set on a hilltop on the South Nottinghamshire Wolds. The 2021 census recorded a population of 6,821, with 2023 estimates approaching 7,400 — making Keyworth one of the largest villages in the borough. Recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "Caworde" with around 80 inhabitants, the village name derives from Old English meaning "Cafa's enclosure". Keyworth's long heritage as a milling and framework knitting village is still commemorated in the village logo — a blue and white windmill — though the last of its windmills was demolished on Selby Lane in the 1950s.

Church of St Mary Magdalene

The 14th-century parish church on Church Drive — Grade I listed, with an unusual 15th century lantern tower and octagonal spire used as a medieval beacon. The dominant landmark of Keyworth's townscape and the heart of the conservation area.
