About Ravenshead
Ravenshead is a large village in the Gedling district of Nottinghamshire, approximately 10 miles north of Nottingham between the city and Mansfield. Home to approximately 5,891 residents (2021 census), the village was formed in 1966 from the amalgamation of three hamlets: Kighill, Larch Farm, and Fishpool. The name Ravenshead first appeared on 12th-century maps, and the area was originally covered by sandy heathland interspersed with woodland of oak, beech, birch and sweet chestnut. The village lies within Nottinghamshire's Hidden Valleys area, on the edge of historic Sherwood Forest, and provides the main access point to nearby Newstead Abbey, the ancestral home of Romantic poet Lord Byron.

12th-century Augustinian priory turned country house, ancestral home of Lord Byron who lived here 1808-1814. Grade I listed with 300 acres of gardens, lakes and Japanese garden. Accessed from Ravenshead via the A60.
